About Me......

 December, 2001

So you want to hear my story?

Well, I was born as a genetic experiment to an albino tanning salon owner and his amazon mud-wrestling bride back when gene mapping was still done with a sextant by moonlight. Some believe Dolly, the Scottish sheep was the first cloning success but it was actually me, though she and I are quite close.*LOL*
Actually, my dad met my mother while doing an Army stint in South Carolina and they married in 1955. We lived there for a short while until we moved back to dad's home, West Virginia. The state was home to me until January, 1996 when I moved to Ohio. It wasn't a long trek as I can still see my hometown across the Ohio River from my front porch.

I'm 48 years old and work as a pipefitter at PPG Industries' Natrium, WV chemical plant. It's not a glamorous job but it pays the bills and affords me the opportunity to do things I like (sending a son to college comes to mind) when I'm not out in some pipe galley at 3am in a freezing snowstorm. *L*

April 15th was 17 years since I've had a drink as I've been a recovering alcoholic since 1986. I make mention of this for a couple reasons. One is to provide some insight to a failed marriage and the other is to keep myself in check. I've found that many people are happy that I've been able to remain sober and the more who know it, the more people I have to watch out for me when the times come along that I think about drinking. Thanks to everyone who has cared enough to worry about me and keep me in line when those times sneak up.

I mentioned a failed marriage...well, there's been two of them. The first was the result of my drinking and carousing ways. I'm certainly not proud of it but I'm fortunate that Sandy and I are good friends now that I'm not a bastard drunk from Hell. I'm lucky that we get along especially since we have a son together.
The second time around was a different story as I had started my recovery just before marrying Shelba. That union lasted almost 11 years before we grew apart after her son was through High School.

My hobbies include making people laugh, music of all kinds (I have 400+ CDs), taking pictures, singing karaoke, watching sports, woodworking, computers, the internet and traveling.

The picture above is me....like I'd put someone else's there???...and I'm told I look like my pic. The only thing the photo doesn't show is the amount of gray in my hair or the fact that it quit growing at 6'1¾" on my 6'2" frame.

That's about it for who I am. If you'd like to know more you'll just have to ask. *BG*
