Ed's work is well know in the upper Ohio Valley. He
was a long time resident of Wheeling, W.Va. working in the
advertisement field.
His models were displayed at The Steifel Center Of Oglebay
Institute in Wheeling for many years.
His last work "The Farm" was finished shortly before his passing
away. In his Will he left his major works to the Oglebay
Institute.
The models had been in storage for may years and were shown for the first time in many years in 2000. To display the "Circus" I used a section of my Christmas Train layout, so the whole circus could be shown together.
The Circus is a look back to the early 1940's. Ed
spent 20 years on this work. Everything That would be found in a
circus of that era can be found on Ed's model. There is the Big
Top, Midway, Menagerie, Side Show, Cook tent, Dressing tent,
outside animal tent, you name it it's there. The only thing on
the model that wasn't scratch built by Ed are the wagon
wheels.
The Grandstand's alone have 500 or more people sitting in them.
Each one different from all the others. Every time you look at
the Circus you find some thing new to catch the eye. It' is
almost impossible to capture in pictures what can be seen in
person.
Some of Ed's other works are "Winter in the City
Park" and "Santa's work shop". Both of them are animated.
In the future I may add a link to them.
